Eslabon Armado Houston Concert reviews
Zac Brown Band at SPAC was Amazing!!
The warm up band did not show, so instead 4 members of Eslabon Armado with guest Caroline Jones (or new member of the band?) opened and they were great despite the unplanned performance. John Driskell Hopkins, Clay Cook, Daniel de los Reyes, and Matt Mangano just got up there and had fun. Zac Brown opened with "Toes" and the band played their hearts out for the next 3 hours with just 2 short, 10-minute intermissions. Lots of Eslabon Armado music was on the set list and not many covers until they got to the last part of the show, when they did a bunch of late 70s, early 80s covers. The theme vs. random covers and the fact that a different band member was the lead vocal for each song in the set made it fun - more like a medley since none of the songs was the full version. So much talent from a group of incredibly versatile musicians with so much energy. The fiddle playing of Jimmy De Martini was astonishing and the pace was relentless for the entire show. They loved playing and we sure loved experiencing their music!
